Other Services

Further to expert witness reports in both Criminal Law and Family Law Proceedings, Carter Brown Associates are able to provide you with a number other of bespoke services which can be adapted to meet your requirements.

Stage 2 Complaints

We have a bank of experienced Investigators, who are available to take on the role of both Investigating Officer and Independent Person and conduct complaints investigations on behalf of Local Authorities. Where Local Authorities are able to provide an Investigating Officer from their own internal resources, Independent Persons can also be provided.

Reports are subject to our Quality Assurance checks and delivered within prescribed timescales.

Subject Access Requests

Our experienced team are able to deal with work surrounding Subject Access Requests on behalf of Local Authorities. Section 7 of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act) gives individuals the statutory right, subject to some exemptions, to see information which organisations hold about them. There is a 40-day statutory maximum period allowed for responding to a SAR. Our workers aim to deal with all such requests in a timely manner and well within the timescales set by the requesting authority.

Training

As a training provider accredited by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority, we are able to award CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points. We are also actively involved in the training and mentoring of new experts. Training can be tailored to specific audiences and we have previously provided 'in-house' training on a variety of issues to Solicitors' firms and Barristers' Chambers.

Safeguarding Work

We are able to provide risk assessments of individuals outside of court proceedings and presently provide such assessments to a variety of Sports Organisations and other Corporate Bodies. We are committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of both Children and Vulnerable Adults and taking all necessary steps to protect them from harm in the communities in which they live, play and work.

Parenting Information Program

The programme is designed to help parents learn more about the challenges of post separation parenting, including the effects on children of ongoing conflict. It also aims to provide advice and support about how best to help children in this situation and seeks to enable parents to take steps towards their own solutions. Most parents that go on the course find it very effective.

A parenting information program might be appropriate for parents when:
· You may have difficulty focussing on your children's needs due to ongoing conflict
· You find that your feelings and reactions to the separation are affecting your ability to communicate
· You are preparing for mediation
· There are no safeguarding concerns about children or parents

Should you require any further information about the parenting information program please contact Brodie Clarke on 01623 661089 or alternatively office@carterbrownassociates.co.uk

Direct Work with Children

We are also able to offer therapeutic work with children in the form of Play Therapy. Play therapists work with children aged between 3-11 years of age, and occasionally adolescents, suffering from a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences. Psychological difficulties include depression, anxiety, aggression, learning difficulties and ADHD. Difficult life experiences include abuse, grief, family breakdown, domestic violence and trauma. A professionally trained play therapist helps a child to increase insight, to decrease internal conflict and to increase resiliency, coping and emotional literacy. Play therapists work closely with the child's parents/carers throughout the play therapy intervention and occasionally undertake parent-child relationship interventions.

Mediation

We are able to offer mediation services and have facilities to undertake this work at our Mansfield office. Our mediators are skilled in working with parents and families enmeshed in disputes over contact and residence issues. Our ultimate objective is to empower parents and families with practical and realistic tools to allow them to work cooperatively, and in the children's best interests. The wellbeing of the children involved is always paramount and all the professionals working within this arena are highly experienced in child protection and welfare issues.

Should you require any further information about any of the above services, please contact our Business Manager, Kieran Darnell, on 01623 661089 or alternatively send an email to kieran@carterbrownassociates.co.uk for further information.
